BIDDEFORD, ME – 07/14/2019 Laya Lupien eats a graham cracker and rests her hand on the door of her family’s tent while trying to escape the summer heat with her brother Dylan, left, mother Mariah, brother Evan and father Patrick. The day before, the Lupien family of five was evicted from their home after having their SSI taken away, their food stamps revoked, and their rent raised without warning over the span of one year. ÒThank you, mommyÓ says Laya for seemingly no reason. ÒI really donÕt know why youÕre thanking me,Ó says Mariah. “My kids are camping with no roof over their head, and they’re still thankful.”

Union, CT, 07/16/2019 — As evening begins to fall Angel (2nd from L) and his fellow campers laugh as they jostle to see who will be “it” for a game of tag outside of the boy’s bunk at The Arthur C. Luf ChildrenÕs Burn Camp. For many campers this camp provides the rare opportunity to be surrounded by other children who look like them in a place where they can relax and just be kids for a week.
