Elise Amendola Best of Sports Award: Awarded in honor and memory of Elise Amendola, the Best of Sports Photograph Award recognizes the exceptional sports image or images selected by the judges. This accolade serves as a tribute to Elise’s profound love for sports. As a staff photographer with the Associated Press in Boston from the 1983 to 2021, Elise documented pivotal moments in history, from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the Boston Marathon bombing and beyond. She captured the essence of Super Bowls, Olympics, and World Series, yet found genuine joy in highlighting the Boston sports scene.  Elise’s dedication as one of the pioneering women in sports journalism set a precedent for future generations. In honoring her legacy as a mentor, friend and colleague, the Boston Press Photographers Association celebrates her impact on the field of sports photography.
