Kennedy, who was barely alive at rescue, and fire Lt. Edward Walsh, died in the nine alarm fire.

Boston--12/13/14- Thousands of protestors marched through the streets of Boston as part of the Black Lives Matter protest to bring attention to  the recent police killings of unarmed blacks.  A protestor is grabbed by a Boston Police officer on his bike after the protestor kicked his bike causing the officer to fall on Tremont Street. The police officer let him go.

He was rescued after being trapped by flames while battling the nine alarm fire. Kennedy later died at the hospital. The fire at  298 Beacon Street also claimed the life of Fire Lt. Edward Walsh, Jr.

Welch, a former professional fighter runs his gym for adults, but offers free lessons and training to area youths as a way to “give back” to the community by introducing kids to boxing while hoping to revive an interest in the future of a sport that has been in decline for years. The children’s boxing training culminates in an annual St. Patrick's Day Boxing Show.

Fatumah Mohamed, 43, is a refugee from Darfur, Sudan, recently resettled in Utica, New York, USA.  She is seen here in a classroom at the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees where she is learning English and other skills useful for her new life in Utica. When asked what she would like to do for a job in her new life, she said she might start as a housekeeper but wanted to become a judge like Luis Gabriel Moreno Ocampo, the first Chief Prosecutor for the International Criminal Court. The Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees is one of the largest resettlement agencies in the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service network, though it is a secular organizatnoi. The Center has assisted in the resettlement of refugees from 31 countries since it began in 1979.

Federal studies show that Vermont has one of the highest per capita uses of illicit drugs. "There's just nothing here," said Stephanie Predel, 23, who went from painkillers to heroin, hiding her habit from her children by shooting up in the bathroom. "Come wintertime, everybody just sits inside using." Stephanie, who says she has not used heroin since November, has lost custody of her children. She has no job and no home and for now is staying with her mother, Jennifer Rose, 42, who blames herself for her daughter's descent into drugs. "Because I had a dysfunctional family growing up, I did a poor job of bringing her up," Ms. Rose said. She said she did not know how to break the cycle.

HER HUSBAND, JOHN, AND FORMER HUSBAND MICHAEL ROCHA BOTH TAKE PART IN HER CARE AT KINDRED HOSPITAL WHERE SHE HAS BEEN A PATIENT SINCE 2005. MICHAEL LIVES WITH JOHN IN HIS CONDO WITH MICHAEL’S DAUGHTER MELISSA . JOANNE CAN ONLY MOVE HER EYES AND MAKE SUBTLE FACIAL GESTURES. SHE BREATHES WITH A VENTLATOR AND IS FED THROUGH A TUBE IN HER STOMACH. JOHN VISTS HER EVERY DAY AND HAS MISSED ONLY ONE VISIT SINCE 2005 BECAUSE OF A BLIZZARD.
