SUMMARY:Digitizing Your Film Archive – Applying New Technology by Digital Silver Imaging
DESCRIPTION:ASMP New England\, in cooperation with the Boston Press Photographers Association\, is happy to announce a special\, live\, in-person\, and onsite program about new and repurposed technology to create high resolution scans from film. \nDigitizing Your Archive and using Capture One Software \nOn Thursday\, June 10\, Digital Silver Imaging will debut and demonstrate its On Site Image Preservation Service™ in their newly outfitted van at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester\, MA. DSI owner\, Eric Luden\, and Image Archive Specialist\, Scott Nidermaier\, will be on hand to showcase the equipment. The van is equipped with a state-of-the-art image capture system\, including the use of a medium format camera back\, that in seconds can digitize your film\, with drum scanner quality\, at a fraction of the drum scanner price. Digital Silver imaging is offering to digitize a single 35mm or 120 transparency\, or negative (Color or B&W) FREE during the event\, so don’t forget to bring your film (mounted or unmounted\, negatives in strips or singles – all are fine). \nThe event runs from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. There will be on-going demonstrations of the digitization process\, discussions of best practices for Capture One software\, and what to do after your files are converted. DSI will also discuss archive storage solutions\, and printing. \nThe Griffin Museum will remain open for extended hours for all attendees during the event. The Leica Store Boston will also be on hand with a selection of new and notable equipment. \n\nOutdoor event at the Griffin Museum of Photography\nPresentation on the digitization system and utilizing Capture One Software on a large monitor display outside of van\nFree 35mm or 120 digital capture for each photographer – will be done onsite\nArchive storage solutions and discussion\nTurning your archive into new opportunities\nDiscussion on printing\nSpecial pricing to be offered for all attendees on Digitization and Printing\nLight refreshments will be served.

The event\, on May 13\, 2017\, will be held at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge. The address is: 40 Edwin H Land Blvd\, Cambridge\, MA 02142.  \nThe cash bar reception will be from 6pm to 7pm\, with dinner to follow shortly afterward. \nLike last year\, there is graduated pricing for the annual awards dinner. If you’re purchasing additional tickets for your guests\, please use the same ticket price for all tickets. It’s your chance to meet the judges: Allison Shelley\, Louis DeLuca\, and Eli Reed. Read their bios on the BPPA site.  \nWe’re gathering at The Independent at 75 Union Square in Somerville\, MA at 7pm on Thursday\, Feb. 16. Attendance is free\, but you’ll have to pay for your own food and drinks. This event was a blast last year. Hope to see you there!
