SUMMARY:FOB Dahlke exhibition by Allison Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Allison Dinner – FOB Dahlke\nBPPA member Allison Dinner’s project FOB Dahlke will be on exhibit in the Mayor’s Neighborhood Gallery\, on the 2nd floor\, at Boston City Hall. The exhibit will run from December 1\, 2019 through January 10\, 2020. FOB Dahlke is a story about an austere US Aviation Base called Forward Operating Base Dahlke that was opened in Afghanistan in 2018 by the US Army. The US Army opened this base as a remote location to conduct more air operations against the Taliban after Trump’s change in US involvement in the Afghanistan combat policy. All air missions\, including medevac\, combat\, and resupply\, are conducted daily from this base. Allison’s project features an in depth look at the 101st Airborne soldiers that were some of the first to be stationed at this base\, and helped build it from the ground up. Boston City Hall is located at 1 City Hall Sq. in downtown Boston. \nCity Hall hours are 9am to 5pm\, Monday through Friday.

SUMMARY:Arlington: A Senior Portrait - Exhibition by BPPA member Paul Marotta
DESCRIPTION:A 107-year-old who still lives in her own home and routinely gets “the works” done at her hair salon so she can always look her best. A 90-year-old who goes to the Arlington Council on Aging fitness classes every week and has a smile so broad it’s contagious. The exhibit comprises more than 100 images on 9 panels\, each between 8-10ft long with work from 9 months of shooting in 2018 throughout Town of Arlington. Photography took place at the Arlington Council on Aging Senior Center\, senior housing complexes\, Old Schwamb Mill\, private homes and even at a hair salon with a 107-year-old. The presentation panels are deigned to unfold individual stories as well as completely immerse the viewer in the lives of Arlington seniors as they walk through the exhibit hallway in the old wing of the Arlington Town Hall. \nArlington: A Senior Portrait\, by photographer Paul Marotta\, is supported in part by a grant from the Arlington Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, a state agency. \n The exhibition will be on display until Nov. 22\, 2018.

SUMMARY:"Chasing the Sparks" exhibition opening

Forman for a gallery talk! \nPulitzer Prize winning photographer and videographer Stanley Forman\, photographer David Oxton (Rollie Oxton’s youngest son) and photographer Robert Wilson will share their thoughts and answer questions during this presentation and panel discussion. \nThe exhibit will be open from 1 PM until 5 PM | gallery talk is at 2:30 PM on May 7\, 2017. See our website for location and parking details. The gallery is always open by appointment. Feel free to contact us at info@41gallery.com \nPhotojournalism of Roland Oxton\, Stanley Forman and Robert Wilson\nA new exhibition at 41Gallery features news photography from an era where unrestricted access to news events\, ingenuity and a knack for being in the right place at the right time always produced great photojournalism\, captured dramatic moments and often… award winning results! \n“Chasing The Sparks” brings together three photographers whose work spans several decades of news photography in the greater Boston area. The photographers\, all with a North Shore connection\, strive to capture moments… sparks if you will\, that communicate the essence of the scene unfolding before them. This exhibit showcases some of the best examples of those efforts. \nRoland “Rollie” Oxton served as a US Army photo corps photographer during World War II and went on to become a Pulitzer Prize winning photographer for the Record American/Boston Herald. For almost three decades his work captured the range of human emotion from sheer terror to moments of joy and even humor. \nStanley Forman is a photojournalist and videographer whose work has won him three Pulitzer Prizes and many other awards. Stanley’s career began when his father gave him a camera almost 50 years ago. While on staff for the Boston Herald American\, Stanley’s work set the standard for spot news photography creating powerful images that have stood the test of time. He continues to bring us his unique visual perspective and uncanny sense of timing as a videographer for WCVB-TV in Boston. \nRobert Wilson photographed for the Cambridge Chronicle and Somerville Journal back in the mid-70’s and early 1980’s. As a staff photographer for the Somerville Journal his news and feature story work captured city life… people\, parades\, poodles\, politics\, police and fire.
